Do you know how to use your website building skills in marketing? If you're a Baby Boomer like me, you may have taught yourself how to build a website in the last two or three decades.
Hey, I started in the late 1990s and early 2000s! Alas, it takes some effort to keep up with the changes in the technical aspects. Like, now we have do all our sites over as Responsive, so they go easy on the young folks that do everything on their handheld devices.
Do you enjoy that technical stuff, but you get bogged down in it, and just don't get around to making any money with your website(s)?
I can identify! I taught myself website building skills in 1999 when I researched self-publishing online, and learned that I would need to promote my own book, and the best way was to have a website about it. I tried a few free sub-domain sites first to get the hang of it. Then I was asked to build one for a mission in Saskatoon, and because I'm a responsible person who takes assignments very seriously, I got that one finished before I got my own book website up.
That came in 2001 when my novel, Ruthe's Secret Roses was published through Booklocker.com. So I set up Ruthes-SecretRoses.com. I tried out many new things on it, including affiliate marketing. That site needs a complete overhaul to make it compatible with responsive design, but I haven't had time to do that yet.
Yet with all the affiliate linking I did on several of my own sites, I didn't really know how to use my website building skills in marketing.
You see, now I've come into the company of people that talk routinely of making 5 or 6 figure incomes – that's monthly! Not just annually! It turns out lots of them don't know a bean's worth of html coding or other details about building a website. Some do nothing bu social media networking. If they build a site at all, they use WordPress, which has no end of plugins, and it operates almost as easy as writing email. Many of them stick strictly to social media and make “friends” by the hundreds, and just announce when they have something of interest to offer people on their blog site.
Folks flock around them like drones around a Queen Bee! And the Queen bee makes money almost effortlessly. (Or so it appears).
Hmm… I thought I couldn't figure Facebook out, but now I'm wondering. Maybe we can learn some new tricks after all. We learned a whole new way of doing things when desktop computers came out and we taught ourselves website building skills. Now you must learn to use your website building skills in marketing. That's what turns on the income tap!
For one thing, even if you haven't used WordPress yet, you will catch on quicker and get more mileage out of your new blog site, if you have some HMTL and basic affiliate linking skills. There's one advantage you may have.
Listen, if you're in my camp; I've got some suggestions for us!
Let's recycle our websites! (Maybe even those free, sub-domain sites, if you still have access).
If you have your own registered and hosted domain site, you'll be laughing soon. Install WordPress (it's free, remember?) and build a site that is already “responsive” using the new themes. Then follow the gobs and bushels of ideas in MyLeadSystemPro (MLSP for short), where all the training is done with webinars and videos. Actually, you get a MLSP (blog) site with your membership, so use that one to discover how these marketing methods work, and adapt them to your own other site.
The trick is – use your website building skills on each blog/site for a different slant but all of them pointing to your products or business opportunity, or hey… if you signed up for a number of program/opportunities already, specialize each site on just one or two of them. But then, cross-link your sites so that visitors that find one site boring might click/tap for the other one.
You see, if you know all about filling out your meta tags properly so that the search engines will deliver specific visitors to each web page, you can create web pages as easily as blog posts or pages, and furnish them with things like forms to sign up to your mailing list (we know the GOLD is in our lists, right?)
We can create funnels and capture pages too – which we can learn in MLSP too, if you don't have that skill already.
You may be ahead of me on the social media marketing skills, but if not, there are webinars and videos from the successful leaders in that genre at MLSP who can show us how to post catchy lures on our social media accounts to bring our friends and followers to see whenever we get a new page up on any of our website properties.
You know, this is opening up many possibilities in my mind. More than I can cover here. But if you get the idea, then, what you need to do is join our MLSP community, chose the training you most want to know, and start applying it together with the skills you already have, and see how far you can go. We can soon be in that number who like to drop clues as to how many figures there are in our income levels. All because we know how to use our website building skills in marketing!
